Yelizovo is a town located on the south side of the Kamchatka Krai and on the River Avacha besides Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in northwest. The town is the administrative center for the Yelizovsky Municipal District and Yelizovskoye Urban Settlement. The town was first mentioned as the village of Stary Ostrog in 1848 and in 1897 it was changed to Zavoyka. The town was granted urban-type settlement and legal rights in 1964 and 1975 respectively. The total number of people living in this town until 2018 is 39,216 to be estimated.
