Yefremov is a town located on south side of the Tula Oblast in Yefremovsky District near the River Krasivaya Mecha on the Don's Tributary. The town was first mentioned as the fort protecting the boundary of the Tsardom of Russia from South in 1637. The legal rights of the town were granted in 1777. The total area in which town is scattered is 21.83 km2. German soldiers occupied the town from November 23 to December 13, 1941 at the time of World War II. The town is twin sister with Liptovsky Mikulas in Slovakia.
