Semyonov is a town located on the northeast center of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast near the River Kerzhenets in Russia. One of the most beautiful traditional handcrafts is made in this town like matryoshka dolls and Khokhloma wood paintings. The town was first settled by the old believers in 17th century and later in 1644 it was first known as the Semyonov’s Hamlet. The was granted town status from 1779. There is a factory named "Khokhloma painting for producing and crafting more of such art. The total population of town is around 24,400 until 2018.
