Slantsy is a town located on the western side of the Leningrad Oblast in Slantsevsky District near the River Plyussa in Russia. The town was founded as the establishment offered by Sergey Kirov during the discovery of large oil shale deposit in the area in 1930. The town was granted township status in April 5, 1949. Two famous people were born in this place Shot putter- Larisa Peleshenko and high jumper Aleksey Dmitrik. There is a very famous Museum of History and Cultural to keep the historical heritage alive among the locals about the town.
